Views on Day 1 of Our Walk Best of the GR 131.

We have put together this exciting itinerary as follows:

Tenerife Walking tour - Best bits of GR131 (long distance trail) and other hihg level scenic walks.

Our brand new 8 night Tenerife tour offers a wonderful unique hiking experience, taking in the best parts of the GR131 (long distance trail) with fantastic views of El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain at 3700 metres, along the way.

Our tour also incorporates some stunning walks in the Anaga mountains in the north of the island.. literally some of the best walking the island has to offer! The walks are on average 15 - 20km per day through wonderful terrain including volcanic ash, fascinating rock formations, stunning cliffside paths and barrancos, with varying ascents and descents (contact us for further details on this)

The accommodation we offer is of a good quality in a variety of hotels and apartments. (Some modern and some authentically Canarian and 5 of the nights include hotels/apartments with a swimming pool! We start and finish our tour in the lovely coastal village of El Médano which is close to the south airport for the convenience of our clients, but also offers a low key friendly and super cool beachside village atmosphere, (in contrast to the much busier and commercial seaside resorts further along the south coast). El Médano has a variety of excellent
restaurants and bars and offers the opportunity to partake in various water-sports or walk up the easily reached Montana Roja which sits in a prominent position on the edge of the village, or you can just simply relax on the beaches and enjoy the views. We do recommend adding a day or so before or at the end of the tour to relax in this village (we can offer advice on any extra nights accommodation if required).

There is also an option to add on a special ascent of El Teide (3700 metres) at the end of the tour! We guide you up Spain’s highest mountain on the lesser known route from El Portillo to the mountain refuge hut at 3200 metres, where we stay overnight in shared dorms and rise very early (head torches required) to ascend the last 500 metres arriving at the summit for a wonderful sunrise before our descent walk. A brilliant way to end a fantastic walking tour. Please note Teide ascent/descent is weather permitting and a good level of fitness is required.

Please contact us direct for additional costs for this extension and also if you have any questions about the ascent.

Some walks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances but we always will offer good alternative options of equal duration. We like to have a certain amount of flexibility on this tour with relation to these factors, the general fitness of the group and time scales. (We may have time on occasion to visit some other sights/villages on the island by van). We can also help with booking/advising on accommodation for days prior to or after the walking trip if required. Please be aware that the timings stated are in relation to walking times and generally do not include our break times and photo stops. We also include two paid dinners and two breakfasts for the group on the trip! All other meals including breakfasts, lunches and dinners are not included. The cost of eating out and drinking is very reasonable in Gran Canaria!
